For some reason the tumblr page is not working for me right now, So I will post my final blog reflection here.. sorry.
If I were asked what my favorite activity was throughout the course of this semester in class, hands down my response would be blogging. Throughout some of the blog posting we did, I was able to learn so much about myself as a writer. I learned that I am a procrastinator when it comes to deadlines. I wait for the last minute to get my writing juices flowing, which is not a great thing. I also learned that I absolutely love writing short stories, especially if its based on my life experiences, but I get to change the names and characters. After doing our technology post I learned quite a lot about digital writing. One of the things I learned is that there are so many different apps, and websites geared towards teaching students in a creative technological way. Some of these resources I enjoyed was the digital bookshelf on shelfari.com , and padlet.com.
When it comes to advising teachers on integrating blogging into their classrooms, I completely support the idea. I think that blogging is a way for students to express themselves and their opinions without being put on the spotlight during classroom time. I also believe that although teachers may have assigned blogging topics for their students to write about, I think that it is important to allow them to have open blogging post so they can post anything that is on their mind or a story/poem they have been working on. This allows the student to express themselves.
My challenges were that I procrastinated waiting for the day before to complete the blog post, and also understanding some of the technology websites we were given to review. My successes were writing the first and best short story I have ever written.
Thank you, Bernice Rivera
